The Australian National Kennel Council Limited and its Member Bodies support and encourage Clubs, organisations and individuals to rescue adoptable pure bred dogs from animal shelters, from owners who can no longer responsibly care for them and strays found wandering at large.

We encourage all such groups or individuals, after exhausting all means of trying to locate the owner and/or breeder of any such animal, to have it spayed or neutered prior to placing it with a responsible new owner.
